Meet the Founder

Dr. Devin Patterson Aucoin is a career educator, researcher, and consultant with more than 17 years of experience across the classroom, educator preparation, and instructional and program leadership. She has worked as a high school English Language Arts teacher, an instructional coach, a mentor to beginning teachers, and an administrator of an educator preparation program. Her doctoral research examined the experiences of alternative licensed educators, bringing both scholarly rigor and deep personal familiarity to the work she does at Good Teaching. 

She founded Good Teaching on the belief that new teachers deserve more than being handed the keys and left to figure it out. She believes that with the right support, delivered well, it makes all the difference. Her work is practical, research-informed, and rooted in genuine care for the people doing one of the hardest jobs there is.

Her doctoral research examined how alternative certification teachers navigate preparation, identity, and the demands of classroom work, bringing both scholarly rigor and deep personal familiarity to every engagement Good Teaching delivers. Good Teaching exists at the intersection of Dr. Aucoin's classroom experience, her preparation program work, and her research. It is not a general professional development consultancy.
